Y.E.T.I.S. Update

Hello Fellow Snowmobilers,

What an eventful month we have had! The

Y.E.T.I.S. Logo Youth empowerment throught involvement in Snowmobiling

have been traveling to open houses, helping their local clubs kick off the snow season, and attending the 48th annual SDSA Convention in Brookings. The Y.E.T.I.S. met formally at the convention, and we decided as a group to lower the minimum age of membership to 12. By lowering the age we gained at least 5 new members in one weekend. It was a fun convention, and it was great to have our own hangout room to use to meet and do activities in.

The Y.E.T.I.S. are working hard to do their part in their local clubs by helping put in trail signs for their area trails. We have also been going to near-by dealerships’ open houses and avalanche safety courses to promote the Y.E.T.I.S. and share with people what we are about. I would like to give VernEide Motoplex, Interlakes Powersports, and Roelofsen Implement a huge thank you for letting us set up a booth at their open houses.

On behalf of all of the Y.E.T.I.S. I would like to thank the SDSA board and all of the SDSA members along with anyone who donated anything to our table at the silent auction we held as a fundraiser at the convention. Thank you for bidding generously on the items. The money raised will go a long way in helping us reach our goals of spreading the word and getting more youth involved in organized snowmobiling.

I can see we have a bright future as a group, and encourage anyone ages 12-20 to join us. We will officially meet next at the Governor’s Ride in Spearfish in February. We hope to see you there.

Rachel Watkins

Y.E.T.I.S President
